The Public Health Think Thank at NYUAD provides participants with the necessary skills to create and professionally convey innovative solutions to serious health issues and gives students the opportunity to network with important professionals working in the field of public health in the UAE and beyond. In addition to active brainstorming and proposal preparation sessions, the event involves public health seminars, skill-building workshops, and final presentations of each team’s proposal to a panel of distinguished professionals and researchers in the field of public health.
The conference itself serves as an opportunity for collaboration with multiple entities, including the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, the Dubai Health Authority, the NYUAD Public Health Research Center, the NYU Global Institute of Public Health, the NYUAD Career Development Center and local hospitals, universities, health professionals and advocates.
By the end of the two-day conference, each team of students will have devised an action plan for the implementation of their smoking intervention and must be prepared to present their proposal to the delegation and panel of judges. The winning team will receive an award and will have the opportunity to apply for a grant in order to implement their idea in the UAE.
